Baptisms take place every month, usually on the 4th Sunday of the month at the 9.30.am Family Service.
Baptism is the means by which a person is joined to Christ and becomes a member of God's family, the Church. Those bringing children to be baptized have to publicly state they will pray for them, draw them by personal example into the community of faith, walk with them in the way of Christ and help them take their place within the life and worship of Christ's Church.
It is usual for children to have 3 godparents. A boy has two godfathers and one godmother. A girl has two godmothers and one godfather. Godparents undertake to assist parents in the child's spiritual development. Godparents must be baptized themselves. There is no maximum number of godparents a child may have. Enquiries about baptisms can be made with the Rector.
The Rector will arrange a visit to your home to discuss baptism. Once this has taken place a date can be fixed for the sacrament. Enquiries about baptism from those living outside the parish of Alvechurch should first be directed to the Vicar/Rector of the parish in which the family lives.
Adults wishing to be baptized normally join the annual Confirmation Group and are baptized and confirmed into full communicant membership of the church on the same occasion.
